Of all the grants I have earned in my career this was the best experience. Anna helped write (yes not just edit) multiple drafts until the argument, analysis, and pitch were darn near perfect. I did not think I needed help with grant writing, as I had won 5 of 6 previous applications. Yet, I was wrong. Anna's insights on how to craft arguments, ensure that hypotheses are clear, lay out the data collection process were second to none. In the end, Anna was not just an editor, she truly understood what I was trying to accomplish. Her work was precise, demanding, and excellent.

As a research developer at the University of Minnesota (2011-2018), the University of Chicago (2018-2022), and now University of Illinois Chicago, I have spent a over decade helping individual investigators, teams, and research centers craft their strongest proposals in a wide range of fields - from Renaissance history to human rights to geographic information systems to suicide prevention - for funders such as the NSF, NIH, IES, NEH, DARPA, Mellon Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, William T.
